Surely if you lose your marriage certificate. You can just ask for a copy.

As far as I'm aware if you cannot obtain a copy of the marriage certificate you can file a witness statement detailing the nature of the wedding ceremony. Maybe with photos and what attempts you have made to get a copy.
Then you will.have to seek permission to proceed without a certificate.
